New Year's Eve
We entered our stockade at 2pm for the midnight ball drop in Times Square. While waiting in the freezing cold weather, Obama passed within five feet of us. So did Taylor Swift, Lionel Ritchie, Carson Daily, and the Jonas Brothers. Later in the day, people passed out free pepsi scarves, ugly blue nivea hats that everyone wore, and balloons for people to wave. Jeff got interviewed by an ABC newscaster, and thanks to our huge red Nebraska banner, our picture was taken several times. There were a lot of police officers, most of which were very friendly. They took pictures for people locked in their stockades and retrieved beach balls, balloons, and other items.
This years' ball was new and cost over $5 million. Lots of confetti and balloon dropped after Clinton pressed the button. Getting back to the hotel afterwards was a challenge. The streets were buried in trash and confetti. We saw a group of mounted police and saw the fireworks in Central Park. Everyone trying to go in a different direction.
Happy New Year!
